Chicken Pie at Circus Day Nursery
As you may or may not know, we regularly post recipes created by our own Circus Day Nursery Chefs to our blog so you can enjoy them with your families at home. All the recipes are designed to be healthy for growing bodies and minds and are easy and quick to prepare.
Plus they are already enjoyed by your children here at Circus Day Nursery so your little ones are bound to gobble them up them gladly!
If you want to read more on Chef Andy and Chef Sian and about our philosophy to healthy eating at Circus then you can do so here.
Recently we had a parent post to our Facebook wall that they tried to recreate our Chicken Pie recipe at home and their child informed them that, ‘… it’s not a patch on Andy’s and I have made it taste horrible.’
So we felt that the only course of action was to recreate the recipe here on our blog so this sort of thing would never happen again! And so here it is…
Chef Andy & Chef Sian’s Delicious Chicken Pie Recipe
1 Packet of Chicken breasts/Quorn Chicken
1 small swede
1 tin of butter beans
1 tin of your favourite cream of chicken soup
Potatoes – about 4 or 5
Preheat the over to 190C or gas mark 5.
Chop the chicken or Quorn into bite sized pieces and boil for 10 to 15 minutes in water until cooked through. Chop the swede, carrots and leeks and place in a steamer over high heat until tender. Peel, quarter and boil the potatoes in water until soft and then mash.
Place the chicken, swede, carrots, leeks and butter beans into an overproof dish. Pour over the chicken soup and stir together. Layer on the mashed potatoes to completely cover the top and use the tines of a fork to rough up the surface to create peaks and troughs. This makes the surface brown nicely. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes. Serve. We suggest that you try this served with peas.
We’d love to hear from more of you about your experiences trying out our recipes at home.
Or if there’s a dish your children enjoy at Circus and you’d love the recipe just let us know and we’ll publish it here for your on our blog.
